My husband is the best! ♥

Christmas is over and I think the holidays went by way too fast! I hope you all had wonderful holidays!

My 5 days off from work were over in a blink of an eye…but they were GREAT! πŸ™‚

Friday I stayed home, finished our wall closet project (everything is organized now!) and prepared some things for our Christmas weekend. On Saturday our friends came over to our place in the evening and cooked for us. Well…the men cooked and my girl friend and I watched “The Devil wears Prada”. It was lots of fun. And of course we went to bed way too late.

On Sunday we went to a classical Christmas concert with the same friends and had dinner afterwards…and on Monday the same friends came to our house again for a big Christmas Eve dinner and we had a great time with lots (too much!) of good food, Monopoly and tons of presents.

Most of the presents under the tree were from my dear husband – for me! πŸ˜€ I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw how much he got me! β™₯

I wanted to share a few of the presents on here because you’ll probably be seeing a lot of them in the future πŸ˜› (Note: I do NOT want to brag with what I got for Christmas! I just love sharing cool things with you.) He bought me a TON of scrapbook paper! Aaaaaaah! He paid good attention when he went shopping with me in the past few months because he got all the things I kept looking at but never bought. LOL

I got these two beautiful scrapbook paper pads:

This one has 48 Paris themed sheets:

The papers are just too cute and almost too nice to use! I’m not sure whether I’m going to make envelopes with them or something else. (Any ideas/suggestions what I could use them for??) Same goes for this gorgeous fairytale pad (also 48 sheets):

Look at all the glitter!!!

And the biggest surprise was the following present…because I actually wanted my hubby to go to AC Moore last Thursday to get it for me because it was a special sale and I had to work. When he was at the store he texted me that the lady in front of him bought 5 and there were no more. πŸ™ I was pretty disappointed because it was just such a great deal! Well and on Christmas Eve I opened a big present and found this:

A tote bag with 300 (!!) sheets of scrapbook paper! I know I already have more paper than I can possibly use LOL but this was only $20 instead of $60! I had to have it! πŸ˜› You should have seen my face when I saw it..haha my husband tricked me into thinking they were sold out! He never actually said they were sold out…but he didn’t tell me that he got the last one! πŸ˜‰

Look at all the nice patterns!

And this is the inside:

I already used some of this paper to make a birthday card. And I told my husband that I won’t have to buy any paper for years! πŸ˜› All these beautiful papers will be made into cards and envelopes.

Did you get any crafty Christmas presents?

I also received some amazing presents from my penpals and I am very blessed to have such good friends. Thank you if you’re reading this!! β™₯

So today was my first day back at work…and like I thought, the office was VERY quiet today, which was nice. Tomorrow I’ll be working from home because we’re supposed to get up to 18 inches (45 cm) of snow. I really hope that we DO get that much snow..since we hardly had any snow so far this year.Β  Did anyone of you have a white Christmas? And what are your plans for the rest of the year? I’ll be writing letters and making birthday cards for 2013. πŸ˜‰

American craft stores + haul

I love living in the US. One reason is all the arts and craft stores and the big variety of supplies they sell. πŸ™‚

I remember when I lived in Germany I couldn’t find too many nice things..and when I found some, they were pretty expensive.

But here in the US it’s different. It’s a crafty person’s paradise! πŸ˜› In my state we have craft stores like AC Moore, Michael’s and Jo-Ann’s. When I lived in the South, I loved shopping at Hobby Lobby.

They have sooooooooo many cool things for every creative project you can imagine…and most of the time they have great sales going on. πŸ˜€

Last weekend we stopped at a Jo-Ann’s on our way home from a Christmas party and I found a few things I’m going to use for my envelope making and letter writing. And of course they were all on sale πŸ˜€ My penpals can expect pretty and colorful letters in their mailboxes soon. πŸ˜‰

Here’s what I got:

A scrapbook set (including album), Halloween die-cut card stock and lots of stickers πŸ™‚

I’ll be using these for my Halloween 2013 envelopes πŸ˜€

Pretty alphabet stickers

And some vintage style stickers for only $1!

Somehow I totally missed that this set also included an album πŸ˜‰ But that works for me! Not sure what I’m going to use it for yet, but it’s pretty and I love all the papers, stickers and other things included in the set!

Did I mention that I love pretty paper?!

I can’t wait to use these pretty stickers! They remind me of Valentine’s Day… πŸ˜‰

Do you have any cool crafts stores where you live?

Handmade Thanksgiving cards

With Thanksgiving being just around the corner I was thinking about sending out a few cards to my American friends this year.

Maria from Penpals, Postcards and Swaps inspired me with her latest blogpost about using left over paper to make beautiful cards.I always have lots of left over pieces of paper when I make my envelops and now I finally know what I can do with them! πŸ˜€

I made these Thanksgiving cards with some blank white cards. It was lots of fun and I saved lots of money cause beautiful greeting cards can be pretty expensive these days. Unfortunately the pictures turned out a bit yellow…because we have no sunlight today..too dark and cloudy today :-/

Crafty shopping haul

This week I went to one of my favorite craft storesΒ  – Michael’s. Once again they had some great sales and I found/bought more than I expected. πŸ˜‰

I totally fell in love with this cute paper which I’m going to use to make my envelopes:

Each pack has 25 sheets, 5 of every kind.

I also found these cute Christmas/winter stickers. Each sticker book contains over 200 stickers and was only $1.

Half of the papers and stickers are on their way to a friend of mine because I like sharing nice things with nice people. πŸ™‚

On my way to the register I walked by a bin with tons of different rubber stamps that are normally $1 a piece. But to my surprise I paid only 60 cents per stamp, which made me very happy because I LOVE rubber stamps! β™₯

My favorite of all is this one:

It’s the perfect stamp for a letter lover like me and I was thrilled when I found it! πŸ˜€

And here are the other ones I bought:

I already have so many crafty things and papers…but I never can walk by great stuff like this without looking at it…which most of the time leads to buying it. Haha.

Where do you buy crafts supplies? And what are your favorite things to buy? As you can see mine are papers, stickers and rubber stamps. πŸ˜€

AC Moore Shopping Haul

Tonight my lovely cousin Christina and me went on a shopping trip – without husbands. πŸ˜‰ We finally had some time to look at all the nice paper and other crafty things…it was great!

We went to Made in Maine, which sells things made in Maine πŸ˜‰ I bought postcards there. Afterwards we went to Christmas Tree Stores (no they don’t sell Christmas stuff..only during Christmas time)…and then to AC Moore, Target and Barnes & Noble. I did most of my shopping at AC Moore since they had great sales going on and I had a coupon.

Here are my awesome finds:

Pretty scrapbook paper…8 sheets for only $1…well that’s what the price tag said…but at the register I found out that it was only 60 cents. SCORE! πŸ˜€ Luckily I picked up two..here’s the other one:

I’m going to make envelopes with these nice papers. πŸ™‚ And I’m thinking about making envelopes out of this beautiful $1 calendar I found:

The main reason I went to AC Moore were these pretty clear / acrylic stamps:

I’ve never used clear stamps before so I wanted to give them a try…I love stamps but rubber stamps are so expensive. πŸ™ These clear stamps however are a lot less expensive because for about $10 you get 13 stamps! To start out I bought the “Fun in the Sun” stamp set, a pack of two clear blocks you put the clear stamps on for stamping and some letters:

I am going to write special blog post about the clear stamps once I’ve played with them and tried different things. I’m sure they look great in letters and on envelopes. β™₯

If you are interested in seeing the postcards I have for trade you can look at my postcard gallery. Happy weekend! πŸ™‚
